Just over a week ago, Ski-Doo unveiled its 2018 model lineup to an anticipatory audience of hundreds. Among the new releases presented to the crowd in addition to new models was something brand new to the market - SHOT startup technology.

Tested originally Mythbusters Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman, the incredibly lightweight E-TEC engine includes an 'ultracapacitator,' providing the opportunity for electric charge and no need for batteries. Ring gears and starter motors? No need for those either.

Decreasing in weight from original start engine designs by 20 pounds, the introduction of such a breakthrough is sure to take the world of snowmobile manufacturing by storm. As BRP President and CEO Jose Boisjoli stated,

I'm convinced it will become a benchmark in the snowmobiling industry.
